One Dead, Another Injured in DeKalb County Crash

DeKALB COUNTY, Ill. (WREX) — A crash in rural DeKalb County on Monday morning resulted in one fatality and one injury.

The two- collision occurred just after 9 a.m. at the intersection of Illinois Rt. 64 and County Line Rd., near the DeKalb/Kane County Line, approximately five miles east of downtown Sycamore.

According to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle stopped at the stop sign on southbound County Line Rd. entered the intersection, colliding with a westbound car on Rt. 64. The impact caused the southbound vehicle to spin into a ditch while the westbound vehicle spun in the intersection.

The driver of the southbound car was transported to Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, where they were . The westbound driver's injuries were non-life-threatening, and they were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Illinois Rt. 64 was reopened to traffic by 11:30 a.m., as confirmed by authorities. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
