Ohio Rep. Marcy Kaptur Hospitalized Following Hit-Skip Crash en Route to Church, Police Report.

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Ohio Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur was on Sunday morning following a “hit-skip” crash near Toledo.

According to the Toledo Police Department, the vehicle Kaptur, 80, was in was struck by another , which fled the scene, injuring her and her driver, Kegan Zimmerman, 26. Both injuries are reported as “not life-threatening,” and Kaptur remains in stable condition.

“This morning Congresswoman Kaptur was a passenger in a vehicle en route to a church service when their was struck,” a statement from her X account read. Kaptur is currently alert and receiving treatment.

Toledo Police responded to the crash around 10:48 a.m. near North Detroit and West Central avenues. Both vehicles involved have been impounded, and evidence processing is ongoing.

Authorities indicated that they have made significant progress in identifying the driver who fled, with investigators following strong leads. A witness reported that the driver was picked up by another vehicle before escaping the scene.

Kaptur expressed gratitude for the prompt response from first responders and the medical team. She thanked her constituents for their support and looks forward to returning to a full schedule soon.
