Ohio Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur was Sunday morning following a crash while en route to church.

The Toledo Police Department reported that Kaptur, 80, was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Kegan Zimmerman, 26, when another driver struck them at approximately 10:48 a.m. near North Detroit and West Central avenues. Both Kaptur and Zimmerman sustained injuries, though police confirmed Kaptur's injuries are not life-threatening, and she remains in stable condition.

In a statement on her social media account, Kaptur expressed gratitude for the swift response of emergency personnel and indicated she is alert and receiving treatment. Her office is awaiting further details from the ongoing investigation by Toledo PD.

The other driver fled the scene and is currently unidentified. Authorities reported that both vehicles involved in the crash have been impounded for evidence processing. Investigators have made significant progress and are following multiple leads.

Witnesses stated the other driver was picked up by another vehicle shortly after the incident. The Toledo Police Department urges anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
