Philadelphia, PA (Oct. 31, 2025) — A twin-engine medevac jet crashed in Northeast Philadelphia late Friday, killing all eight individuals aboard and resulting in significant damage to the area.

At approximately 7:32 p.m., the Learjet 55, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, lost control shortly after takeoff, descending rapidly before impacting a neighborhood, according to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The flight was reportedly carrying an 11-year-old patient and her mother returning to Mexico after medical treatment.

Emergency responders, including local fire and rescue agencies, reported a massive fireball following the crash, with multiple vehicles and residential structures catching fire in the immediate vicinity. At least 19 individuals on the ground sustained injuries.

The NTSB's preliminary report indicates the jet had been fully fueled with approximately 600 gallons of aviation fuel. It ascended to around 1,500 feet before the incident occurred. Investigators noted signs indicating the pitch trim system was incorrectly set at 3.97 degrees, potentially complicating control for the pilots.

The two pilots were experienced, according to authorities, but the cockpit voice recorder had been inoperative for several years. The flight had not adhered to required FAA regulations regarding notification when operating within U.S. airspace.

An ongoing investigation seeks to determine the exact cause of the crash. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
