FLETCHER, N.C. (WLOS) — A 17-year-old girl from Henderson County died following a vehicle crash on Mills Gap Road on Monday, Oct. 13.
According to Fletcher Police Department, the incident occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. and involved a head-on collision between a small SUV and a dump truck. Emergency responders from Fletcher Police Department, Henderson County EMS, and Fletcher Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
The victim was identified as Brianna Henn, a senior at North Henderson High School. Authorities stated she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Fletcher Police Department expressed condolences, stating, “This is a terrible day for our community.” Henderson County Public Schools issued a statement mourning the loss and announced that social workers and counselors would be available at North Henderson High School starting Wednesday, Oct. 15, to support affected students and staff.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
