A motorcycle rider died after a collision with an electric delivery van in Colts Neck on Friday, Sept. 19, authorities said.
At approximately 12 p.m., Colts Neck Police responded to a crash on County Road 537 at Willow Lake Drive. Stephen Morehouse, 65, of Long Branch, was riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson eastbound in the right lane when he collided with a 2022 Rivian EDV, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.
The impact caused the motorcycle to strike a concrete curb and grass island, throwing Morehouse from the bike. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:17 p.m.
The driver of the delivery van remained at the scene. No charges or summonses have been issued as the investigation continues.
