Northglenn, CO — An 18-year-old man has been charged with vehicular homicide following a crash that killed his passenger on May 28, authorities announced.
Angelo Arias faces two charges of vehicular homicide, one related to DUI and the other to reckless driving, according to the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
Shortly before midnight, a Northglenn police officer attempted to pull over Arias near Washington Street and East 112th Avenue after observing erratic driving. Arias initially stopped but fled. He crashed into a home in the 10400 block of Clarkson Street, approximately one mile from the initial traffic stop.
Emergency responders transported Arias' passenger, an 18-year-old woman whose identity has not been released, to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The collision caused a natural gas line rupture, prompting temporary evacuations of nearby homes, though no other injuries were reported.
Arias is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Adams County District Court on June 23, according to court records.
