HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. — A single-vehicle crash in Hardin County on Saturday night resulted in the death of a minor and injuries to another.
Kentucky State Police responded to the incident shortly before 9 p.m. in the 860 block of Bewley Hollow Road. Upon arrival, officers found a vehicle overturned in a flooded creek with three individuals inside.
The driver, 44-year-old David Rhodes of Elizabethtown, reportedly lost control of the vehicle. All three occupants, including two minors, were extricated and transported to a local hospital for treatment. Rhodes and one of the juveniles sustained minor injuries and were later released.
Authorities confirmed that the second minor suffered life-threatening injuries and subsequently died after being transferred to Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville.
During the investigation, police determined that Rhodes was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and charged with DUI and first-degree assault.
