LOUISVILLE, Ky. (LEX NEWS) — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving a semi-truck on I-265 South near the 36-mile marker at approximately 9:56 p.m. Sunday.
According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, the collision involved a motorcycle and a semi-truck. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was dislodged from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries, being pronounced dead at the scene.
The motorcycle became lodged beneath the semi's axles and subsequently caught fire, prompting Anchorage/Middletown Firefighters to extinguish the flames. No other injuries were reported, and all parties involved remained on the scene.
Southbound lanes of I-265 South at U.S. 42 were closed for at least three hours, while the LMPD Traffic Unit continues to investigate the incident.
The department expressed deep sorrow over the loss of 4th Division Officer Anthony Elliott, who served the community with dedication and commitment. His passing is profoundly felt among fellow officers and all who worked alongside him.
