MARRERO, La. — A deadly crash occurred on Louisiana Highway 45 late Friday night, prompting an investigation by the Louisiana State Police.
At approximately 11:30 p.m., authorities responded to the scene near College Parkway in Jefferson Parish. Preliminary findings indicate that Joleen Walls, 44, of Marrero, was driving southbound when her vehicle veered off the right side into a drainage ditch, colliding with a culvert and utility pole before overturning.
Walls was unrestrained and suffered fatal injuries, being pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities suspect impairment and speed may have contributed to the crash, and toxicology samples have been collected for analysis.
