A bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Hammond, Louisiana, late Sunday into early Monday.
Shawn Paul Schech, 32, was riding eastbound on Old Covington Highway when he was struck by a vehicle around 11:55 p.m. Sunday or shortly after midnight Monday, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.
Authorities reported that the vehicle involved, believed to be a maroon Toyota Avalon, fled the scene without stopping.
The Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the incident and is seeking information from witnesses. No details regarding road closures or other injuries have been released.
