One Fatality in I-10 Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Gentilly Woods
A 35-year-old woman died in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 westbound near Gentilly Woods on Sunday night, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. near the Franklin Avenue exit (238A). A motorcyclist, a Kia driver, and a Chevy pickup truck were traveling in the area when the motorcyclist slowed due to congestion, police said. The Kia struck the motorcyclist, and the truck subsequently collided with the rear of the Kia.
The deceased woman was driving the Kia, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcyclist sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. The pickup truck driver remained on site and declined medical assistance.
Blood and alcohol tests are pending as part of the ongoing investigation. No arrests or citations were reported as of Monday morning. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the cause of death and release the victim's identity after notifying her family.
