LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Portland on Sunday evening, prompting an investigation by Louisville Metro Police.
Officers responded to the 2200 block of Cleveland Avenue around 8 p.m. after multiple 911 calls reported a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, police found an adult woman in the roadway with serious injuries; she was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the victim was hit by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. Authorities have received various descriptions of the vehicle and are collaborating with the Traffic Unit to gather witness statements.
Police addressed circulating rumors, confirming that the victim was not a child and that a TARC bus was not involved in the incident. A TARC bus driver arrived at the scene afterward and called in the accident after spotting the woman.
