(WJAR) — A fatal accident occurred on I-95 in Attleboro early Wednesday morning, claiming the life of a 43-year-old Mansfield man.
Massachusetts State Police and Attleboro Police responded to the crash near mile marker 3.2 at approximately 6:00 a.m., involving a Honda Civic and a tractor-trailer.
Upon arrival, officers found the Civic severely damaged after colliding with a semi-trailer without a tractor. The driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was given emergency treatment before being transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
On Thursday, the Bristol County District Attorney's office identified the victim as Chad Askew of Mansfield.
Authorities noted the presence of another red Volvo tractor with a semi-trailer at the scene, though police reported that no drivers were present with either vehicle.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to authorities.
