Two Injured in Off-Road Vehicle Crash in Rowan County
(LEX 18) — First responders used iPhone crash detection technology to rescue two individuals injured in an off-road vehicle crash in Rowan County late Saturday night.
According to Hayes Crossing – Haldeman Fire/Rescue, crews were dispatched after receiving an alert from the device. Firefighters located the RZR off-road vehicle in a remote area during the early hours of Sunday morning.
Two individuals were found injured inside the vehicle. Due to the difficult terrain, the Morehead Fire Department, Rowan County EMS, Rowan County Sheriff's Office, and AirEvac 118 responded to the scene. Both patients were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment.
Authorities advised those operating ATVs, UTVs, motorcycles, or traveling in remote areas to enable iPhone or Apple Watch crash detection features and to consider sharing their location using apps like Life360, which have proven effective in emergency situations.
