Greene County Crash Claims Life of 64-Year-Old Woman, Injures Two

A collision on Interstate 59 in Greene County resulted in the death of a 64-year-old Georgia woman and injuries to two men, according to Alabama troopers. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on March 30, approximately seven miles north of Eutaw.
Authorities reported that Shelia A. Powell of Sandy Springs was a passenger in a 2022 Hyundai Venue when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a cable barrier, and overturned. It was subsequently hit by a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck.
Powell was ejected from the Hyundai and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 61-year-old Luke L. Powell of Atlanta, and the driver of the Silverado, 22-year-old Jack C. Farrell of Pelham, were both transported to DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa for treatment of injuries.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol Division is investigating the crash, and further details are pending.
