OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — Four individuals were apprehended after fleeing the scene of a serious crash in Zeeland Township on Monday night.
An alert triggered by an iPhone notified deputies of the accident on Byron Road, near the eastbound I-196 exit ramp. Authorities confirmed that a pickup truck pulling a trailer made a turn in front of a Porsche, which subsequently collided with the truck.
The 23-year-old driver of the Porsche was transported by helicopter to a hospital in Grand Rapids, where he remains in critical condition.
The four occupants of the pickup truck fled on foot but were located by responding deputies, who utilized a drone and police dogs. The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident.
