MANCHESTER, N.H. —
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is hospitalized following a serious car crash in Manchester on Saturday night.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. on Interstate 93 northbound, near an ongoing investigation of a domestic violence incident, according to authorities.
Giuliani was in a Ford Bronco when it was rear-ended by a Honda HRV driven by a 19-year-old from Concord. It was reported that Giuliani had stopped to assist a woman claiming to be a victim of the domestic violence situation.
Giuliani reportedly called police and remained with the woman until emergency responders arrived. He was transported to a local hospital with multiple injuries, including a fractured thoracic vertebra.
Michael Ragusa, Giuliani's head of security, stated that “Mayor Giuliani's condition continues to improve” and that he is expected to be discharged in the coming days. He emphasized Giuliani's resilience, noting his history as a public figure.
Both the Honda's driver and Giuliani's driver also sustained injuries but are expected to recover. No charges have been filed, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
