Woman Critically Injured in Cornwall Collision with Construction Truck
CORNWALL, VT — A woman sustained life-threatening injuries in a crash involving a construction truck on Vermont Route 74 Friday afternoon at 3:51 p.m.
According to State Police, 41-year-old Emily C. McNamara was driving a Toyota 4Runner eastbound when she lost control on the snow-covered roadway, crossing into the westbound lane, and colliding with a Kenworth construction truck pulling a Brenner trailer.
McNamara, a Cornwall resident, was transported to Vermont Medical Center with critical injuries. No updates on her condition have been provided. The other driver, 30-year-old Chase T. Atkins of Addison, was unharmed.
Authorities believe snow and slippery road conditions contributed to the crash, which is under investigation. On the same day, police responded to multiple accidents across the state. Despite the arrival of spring, officials caution that road conditions remain hazardous and urge drivers to exercise caution.
Emergency responders at the scene included the Middlebury Police Department, Department of Motor Vehicles Law Enforcement, Middlebury Regional EMS, Cornwall Fire Department, and Middstate Towing.
