CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Ford has recalled nearly 1.4 million F-150 trucks due to a transmission issue that may increase crash risk.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall affects 1,392,935 Ford F-150 trucks from the 2015, 2016, and 2017 model years. The problem stems from a potential loss of signal between the transmission range sensor and the powertrain control module, which can cause the transmission to unexpectedly downshift into second gear.
Affected vehicle owners are advised to visit licensed dealers for a complimentary update of the powertrain control module software. Interim notification letters, informing owners of the safety risk, are slated for mailing on April 27, 2026. Follow-up letters detailing the final remedy are expected to be dispatched in July 2026.
