Fatal Crash in Shawnee County Claims One Life
A fatal vehicle crash occurred July 22 at approximately 2:41 p.m. on U.S. Highway 40, just south of Silver Lake in northwest Shawnee County.
According to the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office, two vehicles were involved in the collision. One individual was pronounced dead at the scene. Additional details regarding the number of occupants and their conditions have not been released as the investigation is ongoing.
Emergency responders, including the Shawnee County EMS and fire units, arrived on the scene to provide medical aid. Authorities said one lane of U.S. Highway 40 was closed for several hours to facilitate the investigation and clearance of the wreckage.
Tow services were called to remove the vehicles involved. No further information regarding the parties involved will be released pending family notification.
