BELOIT, Wis. — A 37-year-old man was fatally injured in a hit-and-run incident early Saturday morning, according to officials in Rock County.
Leroy J. Helminiak of Beloit died at a local hospital after being struck by a vehicle around 1:49 a.m. near the intersection of Pleasant Street and White Avenue.
Responding officers discovered a crashed motorcycle at the scene. The vehicle involved, identified as a blue 1999 GMC Jimmy, fled before authorities arrived. The GMC was later found abandoned and recovered by law enforcement.
The crash is under investigation, and further details have not yet been released.
