EASTON, MA — A van fire following a crash resulted in one fatality Wednesday evening.
Easton police received a 911 call at 6:45 p.m. reporting the incident on Turnpike Street, near Route 138, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
Upon arrival, officers found a work van fully engulfed in flames alongside a damaged tractor-trailer. The driver of the van, the vehicle's only occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities are awaiting confirmation of the driver's identity.
The truck's driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
State and local police are conducting an investigation, with assistance from Massachusetts State Police, who managed traffic flow around the area.
