Man Killed in Three-Car Accident Near Lincoln, Delaware
A serious three-car crash on U.S. Route 113 near Lincoln left one man dead on October 17.
At approximately 2 p.m., a 68-year-old man from Portsmouth, Virginia, was driving a Hyundai northbound on Dupont Boulevard, approaching Johnson Road. Behind him, a 27-year-old man from Milford was driving a Honda Accord. Simultaneously, a Freightliner tanker truck was approaching the intersection.
Authorities said the preliminary investigation indicates the Honda rear-ended the Hyundai as it slowed for a yellow or red light. This collision pushed the Hyundai into the intersection, where it subsequently struck the Freightliner.
The driver of the Hyundai suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The drivers of the Honda and the Freightliner were not injured.
Delaware State Police are investigating the incident and urge anyone with information to contact them or Delaware Crime Stoppers.
Emergency services responded to the scene, and further details regarding lane closures and tows were not immediately available.
