Vicencio Monroy Pineda, 22, was arrested Wednesday in connection with an October 18 crash on Highway 55 that resulted in one fatality.
Authorities reported that the collision occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. involving two vehicles, a sedan and an SUV. The crash led to the death of a 35-year-old male, whose identity has not yet been released.
Emergency responders from the Orange County Fire Authority arrived at the scene and pronounced the victim dead shortly after. Two other individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
As a result of the incident, several lanes of Highway 55 were closed for approximately three hours during the investigation and debris removal. The California Highway Patrol is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Vicencio Monroy Pineda faces charges related to the deadly incident, and authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the charges or court dates.
