Three killed in crash involving undocumented truck driver in Florida.

TAMPA, Fla. (CBS12) — Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced on Thursday the issuance of criminal and civil subpoenas to White Hawk Carriers, the employer of a truck driver involved in a crash that killed three people in St. Lucie County.

The driver, Harjinder Singh, has been described as an undocumented immigrant who allegedly made a dangerous U-turn, leading to the fatal incident. Uthmeier stated that Singh was unable to read road signs or speak English and should not have been issued a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

“We're going to use every legal tool at our disposal to protect our citizens,” Uthmeier emphasized during a joint announcement with local law enforcement.

In addition to the subpoenas, Uthmeier's office has reached out to authorities in Washington and California to investigate how Singh obtained his CDL and assess whether other undocumented individuals may have received licenses without meeting federal competency standards.

Uthmeier criticized “sanctuary states” for their policies, asserting that Florida will continue to take action against those who threaten public safety.

The investigation remains ongoing, with Uthmeier thanking local law enforcement, including the sheriff's office, for their efforts in addressing these issues.
