Minneapolis, MN – Two women were killed in a car crash involving a fleeing suspect on Thursday morning.
Marisa Casebolt, 25, and Liberty Borg, 25, were pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. Borg's 6-year-old son sustained serious injuries, including two broken legs and a traumatic brain injury.
The crash occurred as a male suspect allegedly fled Minneapolis police, striking the victims' vehicle. Emergency responders arrived shortly after the incident, but both mothers were confirmed dead at the site. Authorities have not released further details regarding the suspect or the ongoing investigation.
The families of the victims are grieving the loss. Kelly Mestas, a friend of Casebolt, expressed her sorrow, stating, “My heart broke. It's just a horrible incident that should have never happened.”
Casebolt is survived by her partner and two young children. A GoFundMe page established by Casebolt's sister, Blaze, aims to cover funeral expenses and assist with child care. The page highlights Casebolt as a devoted mother who prioritized her children above all.
Attempts to reach Borg's family for comment were unsuccessful.
Authorities continue to investigate the details surrounding the crash. Further updates are pending as the situation develops.
