Simi Valley, CA — On February 5, 2022, a large explosion during filming for “Jackass: Best and Last” sparked concerns of a plane crash in Simi Valley, according to witnesses.

Authorities clarified that the explosion was part of a stunt coordinated by special effects supervisor Elia Popov, aimed at celebrating the franchise's final day of filming. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

The cast, including Johnny Knoxville, expressed their astonishment at the explosion's scale, with Knoxville posting on Instagram to thank Popov and the crew for their efforts.

“Jackass: Best and Last,” the fifth and concluding installment of the franchise, is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026. Encapsulating 26 years of stunts, Knoxville noted this installment represents the “natural place to end” the series.

Emergency services were not required on site, and no further investigations are pending.
