Minneapolis Police Pursue Vehicle Linked to Overnight Shooting, Two Teens Injured

Minneapolis, MN — Early on Wednesday, October 4, a stolen vehicle incident escalated into a police pursuit and a crash, resulting in two teenagers injured.

According to Minneapolis Police Sergeant Garrett Parten, the situation began around 1:15 a.m. when officers responded to reports of a vehicle theft on Colfax Avenue North. Shortly thereafter, gunfire was reported in the vicinity.

Two males, ages 16 and 14, sustained injuries from the apparent shooting and were later dropped off at a local hospital by the stolen vehicle. Police stated both individuals are expected to survive.

The stolen vehicle was subsequently observed driving erratically by Robbinsdale police officers. A pursuit ensued, concluding with the vehicle crashing near 4300 Marshall Street Northeast.

Parten confirmed that the driver was transported to a hospital for treatment of crash-related injuries before being taken into custody.

Officials noted that the vehicle theft and subsequent events do not appear to be connected to a nearby homicide that occurred shortly after the theft.

The investigation is ongoing, and no additional details were provided as of this report.
