A vehicle crash in Jefferson City on Monday resulted in the death of an 81-year-old man, authorities confirmed.
Jefferson City police officers responded to the two-vehicle collision August 17 at 9:22 a.m. at the intersection of Route C and Veith Drive.
According to the Jefferson City Police Department (JCPD), a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on Veith Drive when it failed to stop at a red light. The vehicle entered the intersection and was struck by a cement truck traveling west on Route C, which had a green signal.
The Chevrolet's driver was treated at the scene by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and was conscious at that time. He was transported to University Hospital for further care.
Authorities reported that the man succumbed to his injuries on August 18 while in the hospital.
The JCPD stated that the traffic unit is continuing to investigate the incident, and no further details have been released.
