DWI Suspect Held on $20,000 Bond Following Downtown Columbia Crash Injuring Three.

A Columbia man was arrested for DUI after allegedly causing a crash that injured three individuals early Sunday morning.

On June 28, 2026, at 1:11 a.m., police were dispatched to an accident at the intersection of Broadway and Eighth.

A driver reported that a white struck his vehicle from behind, then the SUV's driver briefly stopped before fleeing the scene.

The driver and two passengers reported pain in their heads, necks, and backs. One passenger was transported to University Hospital for medical attention.

Officers located the on the 2600 block of South Providence.

Upon contact, authorities identified the driver as 25-year-old Aaron Monroe, Jr., who exhibited signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcohol.

A breath test revealed Monroe had a blood alcohol concentration of .157%.

Prosecutors have charged him with felony counts of Leaving the Scene of an Accident—Physical Injury and DWI—Physical Injury.

Monroe is currently held in the Boone County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
