INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man has been arrested on drunk driving charges following a fatal crash in downtown Indianapolis early Saturday morning.
The victim, identified as 31-year-old Aaron Radford, was ejected from a black GMC Yukon during the collision and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital, according to authorities.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched just before 3 a.m. to the intersection of North East and East Ohio streets, where they found two vehicles involved: a red Dodge Charger and the Yukon. Investigators reported that the Charger was traveling east on Ohio Street when it struck the Yukon, which was heading south on East Street. Following the impact, the Yukon exited the roadway, colliding with a utility pole, while the Charger crashed into a nearby building.
Both drivers sustained injuries and were transported to hospitals for blood analysis, which is standard procedure in Indiana following a fatal incident. The driver of the Charger, 26-year-old Brayan Camacho Calleja, faces three preliminary drunk driving charges along with one charge for driving without a valid license.
Calleja is scheduled for a court hearing on Tuesday morning, according to online jail records. Bond information has not yet been established.
