RIVERDALE, Utah (KUTV) — A nine-vehicle crash closed northbound Interstate 15 near 4600 South in Riverdale on October 7, 2023.
According to Utah Highway Patrol (UHP), a Dodge Ram towing a 32-foot toy hauler may have been speeding in the left lane when it rear-ended a white Hyundai and a black Volkswagen as traffic slowed. The collision triggered a chain-reaction crash involving a total of nine vehicles.
A 15-year-old passenger in the white Hyundai was hospitalized with serious injuries. Several individuals sustained minor injuries and were also transported to the hospital.
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) reported the crash occurred around 2:57 p.m., south of the Interstate 84 interchange. While the extent of injuries was initially unclear, emergency responders transported multiple victims by ambulance.
After the incident, one lane of northbound I-15 reopened following the closure. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
