The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed a fatal crash occurred on Interstate 65 southbound in Williamson County early April 17, shutting down the roadway.
Michael Rech, 61, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash reported around 4:30 a.m., near the 74-mile marker, according to highway patrol officials.
Authorities stated Rech was driving a 2015 Ford F-150 that was disabled at an angle in the left lane.
A 2021 Volvo dump truck collided with the F-150, pushing it down the roadway. The F-150 struck a guardrail before coming to a stop on the right shoulder.
The dump truck eventually halted on the left shoulder. No other injuries were reported.
The crash prompted lane closures as emergency responders worked at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
