DES MOINES, Iowa — A fatal crash on an Interstate 235 exit ramp occurred Tuesday morning, resulting in temporary road closures.
According to Des Moines police, the eastbound exit ramp at East University Avenue was closed after a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck crashed into a concrete bridge support. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Additionally, the Iowa State Patrol reported a single-vehicle rollover crash on the westbound ramp to I-35/80 at Second Avenue around 5:30 a.m. Two occupants were in the vehicle, with the passenger transported by air ambulance to a Des Moines hospital in critical condition.
Authorities remain on the scene, and investigations are ongoing. The highway will reopen once clearing operations are complete.
