Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash in Holly Oak that occurred on Feb. 20.
At approximately 8:55 p.m., a southbound Volvo truck-tractor towing a trailer loaded with cars collided head-on with a northbound Chrysler 200 on I-95, south of Harvey Road. The Chrysler driver, a 19-year-old woman from Newark, was ejected as she was not wearing a seat belt. She was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries, authorities said. Her identity is being withheld pending family notification.
The 34-year-old Volvo driver from New York sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to a hospital for treatment.
The interstate was closed for about six hours for investigation and cleanup efforts. The cause of the Chrysler's median crossover remains unclear, and the crash is under ongoing investigation, according to police.
