Bourne, MA – A head-on collision on Sandwich Road on Wednesday morning sent two people to the hospital, closing the roadway for several hours.
Emergency services received multiple 911 calls reporting the crash involving a Jeep and a Toyota pickup truck at approximately 7:30 a.m., according to Bourne Police. Responding agencies included the BOURNE FIRE DEPARTMENT and MASSACHUSETTS STATE POLICE.
The accident occurred in the westbound travel lane, resulting in critical injuries for the pickup driver, a 43-year-old man from Pocasset, who was airlifted by Boston MedFlight to a local hospital. The Jeep operator, a 35-year-old man from North Carolina, was transported via ambulance. There is no current update on their conditions.
Authorities stated that the Cape Cod Law Enforcement Council's crash reconstruction team is investigating the incident due to the severity of the injuries sustained. Sandwich Road remained closed until about 10:15 a.m.
