Pleasant Valley Bicyclist Dies After Collision with Vehicle
Pleasant Valley, MO — A 25-year-old man died following a collision with a vehicle around 2:41 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities said.
The incident occurred on West 22nd Street near Amoco convenience store, where the victim, identified as Karthik, was struck while riding his bicycle. Emergency responders from the Pleasant Valley Police Department and the Clay County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene shortly after the crash.
Despite immediate medical aid, Karthik succumbed to his injuries. Witnesses reported seeing the collision as the victim attempted to cross the street.
Investigators have not determined the cause of the crash and continue to gather information from witnesses. No other injuries were reported. The involved vehicle remained at the scene, and no arrests have been made as of now.
West 22nd Street was temporarily closed between Amoco and the intersection with Haines Avenue while authorities conducted their investigation.
The store has since placed a memorial for Karthik at the counter, with photos and a sign reading, “In Loving Memory of Karthik, 2001-2026.”
