SOUTHBOROUGH, MA – A woman faces charges in connection with a fatal crash on Route 9 early on February 20.
Authorities said Crystal Johnson Clementi, 37, of Leominster, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Worcester County District Attorney's Office confirmed that 23-year-old Abigail Throckmorton of Ashland was arraigned on Friday in Westborough District Court.
Throckmorton faces multiple charges, including motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and driving the wrong way on a state highway. She is additionally charged with a marked lanes violation and speeding.
Investigators determined that Throckmorton's vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction on Route 9 prior to the collision.
According to the District Attorney's Office, Throckmorton was released on personal recognizance with conditions prohibiting her from operating a motor vehicle. She must also undergo random drug and alcohol screenings and remain within Massachusetts.
Throckmorton is scheduled to return to court on June 30 for a pretrial conference.
