UPHAM, N.D. — A 19-year-old man from Bottineau died late Saturday night in a crash involving a disabled semitruck in McHenry County.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly before midnight on August 23, on 80th Street North, just east of the intersection with 17th Avenue North, approximately 10 miles west of Upham. The semitruck, a 2006 Freightliner, was disabled on the westbound shoulder and partially in the roadway, with its rear lights activated and emergency triangles deployed.
Two men, ages 56 and 48, from Minot, were inside a Dodge Ram pickup parked in front of the Freightliner, attempting to assist with repairs. They were uninjured when a westbound Chevrolet Silverado struck the rear of the semitruck.
The Silverado driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Freightliner was unoccupied. Authorities stated that charges against the driver of the Silverado are under investigation.
