JUPITER ISLAND, Fla. (CBS12) — Tiger Woods was involved in a rollover crash on South Beach Road on March 27, prompting emergency response.
According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, Woods' SUV collided with a pickup truck towing a trailer after he attempted to pass the vehicle, crossing double solid lines. The impact caused his SUV to roll onto its side.
Deputies reported signs of impairment at the scene, including bloodshot eyes and lethargic movements. During a search, two hydrocodone pills were found in Woods' pants pocket. He admitted to looking down at his phone and adjusting the radio before the crash.
Woods refused a urine test but submitted to a breathalyzer, which showed no alcohol in his system. He faces misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.
Following the incident, Woods was cited for reckless driving, which carries a $163 fine and does not require a court appearance if resolved within 30 days. His not guilty plea has been entered, and the case remains ongoing.
Body camera footage from deputies has been released, showing Woods after the crash, where he was seen making a phone call. His condition and interactions with deputies will be pivotal in the unfolding investigation, with over eight hours of law enforcement footage available for review.
