Haverhill Man Charged with Murder Following Fatal Stabbing
A 46-year-old Haverhill man faces murder charges after a fatal stabbing early Tuesday morning.
Evanda Jackson pleaded not guilty to charges connected to the death of 21-year-old Izayah Cruz, also of Haverhill. Haverhill Police responded to reports of a crash at 3:48 a.m. near the intersection of Boardman and Water streets, where they discovered Cruz suffering from a stab wound to the chest, according to Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.
Cruz was transported to Merrimack Valley Haverhill Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Jackson was subsequently ordered held without bail.
Authorities stated that Cruz's brother, who was present in the vehicle, reported that Cruz was stabbed during an altercation on Kimball Street.
A probable cause hearing for Jackson is set for October 7.
