NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A three-vehicle crash on I-64 resulted in one car being fully engulfed in flames Wednesday night.
The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. on westbound I-64 at the J. Clyde Morris Boulevard exit, 258B. A Nissan Altima caught fire following the collision. According to Virginia State Police, all occupants safely exited the vehicle, and those involved sustained only minor injuries. One individual was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities reported that the acceleration/deceleration lane and the off-ramp for the southbound J. Clyde Morris Boulevard exit are closed while an investigation is underway. As of Wednesday night, the left two lanes of westbound I-64 remain open, but traffic in the acceleration lane is being rerouted to northbound J. Clyde Morris Boulevard.
