Two Georgia residents injured in Boone County crash on I-70
BOONE COUNTY, MO — Two individuals from Georgia sustained injuries in a vehicle collision on Interstate 70 on Tuesday at approximately 1:16 p.m.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the crash occurred west of U.S. 40 involving a 2015 Kenworth W9 semi-truck and a 2024 Ford Transit van. The crash report indicated that the driver of the Ford made an unsafe lane change, leading to contact with the semi-truck.
Following the impact, the Ford veered off the left side of the roadway, colliding with a cable barrier. The vehicle subsequently came to a stop, blocking the eastbound lane of I-70.
The 81-year-old male driver and his 75-year-old female passenger both suffered moderate injuries and were transported to University Hospital by EMS. No injuries were reported for the semi-truck driver. MSHP confirmed that the occupants of the Ford were wearing seatbelts at the time of the incident.
The scene was managed by local authorities as traffic was affected due to the lane closure. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
