COLUMBUS, Ohio — An April nine-vehicle crash on I-71 in Delaware County that killed three has prompted federal scrutiny and a planned transportation roundtable.

Authorities said the crash on I-71 involved nine vehicles and killed Lynnea Soposki, Luke Soposki and their 1-year-old son, Logan.

According to court records, truck driver Modou Ngom, of Columbus, is charged with 3 counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and 4 counts of vehicular assault.

Court documentation indicates the trial has been continued to August as prosecutors and the defense discuss a possible plea.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno said he has asked the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Department of Homeland Security for information related to Ngom's immigration status and commercial driver's license.

Moreno said he is scheduling a roundtable with the U.S. Department of Transportation in Columbus to address transportation and fraud concerns connected to the case.

According to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, a review is underway of 5,000 commercial driver's licenses held by workers who are not permanent residents; licenses that do not meet new federal requirements will be pulled.

Authorities have not released additional details on lane closures, direction of travel or towing; the criminal case remains pending.
