LATAH COUNTY — An 86-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on State Highway 8 early Friday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:44 a.m. near milepost 26.8, according to the Idaho State Police. Investigators reported that the man was driving east in a white Dodge Ram pickup when the vehicle veered across the center line, exited the roadway, and struck a driveway entrance. The truck then became airborne, colliding with a tree and overturning before coming to rest on its roof down an embankment on private property.
The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released, but authorities confirmed that next of kin have been notified.
An investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
