TAUNTON, Mass. (WJAR) — A 22-year-old man charged in connection with a fatal crash in Raynham appeared in Taunton District Court on Monday.

Jacob Larsen faces charges of motor vehicle homicide and negligence following the incident on June 5, 2026. According to authorities, Larsen's Explorer crossed into oncoming traffic and struck 52-year-old Scott Piche, who was riding his at the intersection of South Street East and Hill Street.

The judge entered a not guilty plea on Larsen's behalf. He attended the court hearing in the same clothes he wore during the crash.

Witnesses reported that after the incident, Larsen was heard questioning whether he had killed Piche. A memorial has since been placed at the site where the crash occurred.

Larsen has a prior charge of Operating Under the Influence (OUI) and currently has a suspended license, stemming from a January incident where he failed a field sobriety test.

Bail was set at $25,000 surety, requiring Larsen to pay $2,500 for release. He is scheduled to return to court next month. The crash remains under investigation by local law enforcement.
