AURORA, Colo. — A crash on East Iliff Avenue resulted in one fatality and one injury on May 30.

According to the Aurora Police Department, the motorcycle was traveling west on East Iliff Avenue when a CR-V traveling east made a northbound turn onto South Idalia Street, colliding with the motorcycle. The motorcyclist, a male, was after being transported to a local hospital, while his female passenger is currently in stable condition, police said.

Initial reports indicated the motorcycle was stolen; however, authorities later clarified that it was not, citing confusion with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) similar to that of a reported stolen bike.

The CR-V fled the scene and was later located abandoned nearby. As of Thursday, no suspects are in custody, and Aurora PD continues to investigate the incident. Authorities indicated that speed may have been a factor in the crash.

Lane closures were in effect during the emergency response, but have since been lifted. Further updates are anticipated as the investigation unfolds.
