Fatal Crash at Local Venue Claims Lives, Authorities Confirm
A multi-vehicle accident occurred on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 2:41 p.m., near the entrance of the venue known as the “Southeast's largest outdoor playground” on Highway 34.
According to the Georgia State Patrol, two vehicles collided head-on, involving a pickup truck and a sedan. The impact resulted in three fatalities, while six others sustained varying degrees of injuries. Emergency medical services transported the injured individuals to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities stated that road conditions were normal at the time of the incident, and no adverse weather factors contributed to the crash. The venue, which attracts thousands, has seen eight fatalities in accidents since 2020.
Traffic on Highway 34 was significantly impacted, with two lanes closed for several hours while investigators assessed the scene. Towing services removed the vehicles involved to clear the roadway.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash and described seeing smoke rising from the wreckage. The Georgia State Patrol is conducting a thorough investigation into the accident and has urged anyone with additional information to come forward.
