STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (7News) — A crash on Interstate 95 on Friday has resulted in five fatalities and injuries to dozens more.

Jing Sheng Dong, 48, of Staten Island, New York, has been charged with three additional counts of involuntary manslaughter, bringing his total to five counts. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of . Dong was previously cited for in Maryland, where he was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

At approximately 1:20 a.m., Dong was driving a coach charter , carrying passengers, when it collided with a slowing traffic queue near Route 3 Southbound at Charles Hall Road. Virginia State Police (VSP) reported that the bus struck a Suburban, which was pushed into an and other vehicles, triggering the incident.

Five individuals, including two children, were confirmed dead. About 44 others were transported to hospitals, with three sustaining critical injuries. Mary Washington Healthcare reported that of the 19 patients treated from the crash, only three remain .

Dong was injured in the crash and currently remains in a hospital under the custody of the Rappahannock Regional Jail. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is conducting an investigation, focusing on driver history, vehicle condition, and potential fatigue or substance use.

NTSB officials are seeking video evidence and witness statements regarding the crash. A preliminary report is expected within 30 days.
